Teen Parenting
Lindsey came to receive services from CNP in February of 2009. She was referred to the program by CPS and entered into the CNP teen parenting sessions. Lindsey began attending the classes as a first step in allowing her to get her son back with her where he belonged. It was a significant change for Lindsey to be without her baby, but her determination and perseverance never wavered in her efforts to regain custody of her son, Ian.
Lindsey’s attendance at the classes was a huge success and came with many challenges, but she persevered where other parents may have failed. Living at a local homeless shelter, and transportation being an issue, Lindsey managed to make it to every class on time and with a willingness and openness to learn. She was faced with many challenges that were a deterrent to making it to class, but Lindsey was able to coordinate bus times and schedules to be sure to make the class every week. This was a perfect example of the determination that Lindsey had to get her son Ian back into her life.
Now, Lindsey is thriving. She has regained custody of her son Ian, and has also secured a job. Her current plan includes finding a place to stay with her boyfriend and son Ian. She hopes to use all of the applicable information she received from the parenting class and her interactions with Ian, and to also pass on the information to her boyfriend. All of this is done in an effort to make the best situation for Ian. Lindsey was extremely excited about her reunification with her son and loves being a parent. Lindsey’s determination to do what it takes for Ian will allow her to face future challenges with strength and confidence.
